Trademark Registration is a long and time taking procedure. The registration process has to be divided into various stages. The complete procedure for TM Registration in India is given below:

• TM Search: Before applying for TM registration the applicant goes for the ™ search. It helps to determine the trademark availability and prevent infringement.
• TM Application Filing: Filing TM Application is the first step toward registration. This process takes 24 hrs, from this moment the applicant can start using the ™ symbol in front of their logo or brand name. This symbol (™) determines that the Brand is in the process of registration.

• Opposition Process: When any Opposition/ third party opposes the application, TM Registry marks the application as opposed. Here, the applicant has to give the necessary counterstatement and supporting evidence to defend the opposition.
• Registration: If the application has not faced opposition or the opposition period has been successful, the Trademark is fully registered. From this point, the applicant starts using the symbol ® in front of their mark or brand name. This symbol ( ® ) determines that the brand is registered.

This whole process may take 6 months to 24 months from TM application to Register a Trademark. It might be increased or decreased according to the complexity of the Trademark application.
